Yann Ryo, aka Nixtamal is a French producer born in St Nazaire.
The sound of Nixtamal weaves a connection between Tropical music, Dub and Electro.
After traveling through Mexico and South America, he caught the cumbia virus and started the Nixtamal project in 2008. He releases his first EP on the Argentine label CABEZA! in 2010.
After working on numerous original productions, he began his musical career with the Barcelona label Folcore Records.
This association gave birth to three other releases: Perezoso (2015) still in its most tropical expression, Lucía (2016) much more focused on dub and bass music and Orishas (2018) this time experimenting with more African flavors to spice up their melodies. without neglecting the French dub and the Latin American influence.
With his brand new album Pandora (2021), Nixtamal proposes a more solid and definitive sound, where all his past experiments are consolidated in a work oriented towards the future, bringing together all the characteristic pieces of his sonic history, loaded with bass, dub electro characteristic French without losing sight of the Afro-Latin rhythms.
Live, Nixtamal is accompanied by the frenetic percussion of Nicolas Foucher and the hypnotic images of Emmanuel Stang (VJ Octopus)
