Samy Dib and Jonathan Delachaux have accompanied Poupa Honk for several years during concerts or studio sessions. This collaboration had already given rise to productions like "The Handless Spacewalker" or "Pressure Warning", pieces in which guitar and clarinet dialogue with beats and digital bass.
With "Golden Lowness", Poupa Honk takes again this same formula and lets speak freely its main influences like Rock-steady, Cumbia or Hip-hop, but never let a style take over, a crossbreeding still reinforced by the influences Rock and Jazz by Samy and Jo.
During the production of the album, a great place was made improvisation and this approach, associated with the sounds of the electric guitar and the bass clarinet, brings an organic and deeply human side to a music in which the sounds digital devices are willing to put forward just as the treatment "Lo-Fi" of certain sounds.
There is also an interest for the synthetic and the "cheap" in the work of macro-photography that Poupa Honk realizes for the visuals that accompany his music, a work based on the series and the homogeneity. Homogeneity that is found also in the five titles of "Golden Lowness".
Philippe Dunant, aka Poupa Honk began studying clarinet with a teacher who kept trying to decipher scores. But this classic approach to music only keep him away from theory and take him to explore improvisation and self-learning. In the late 90s, he swap his clarinet for a saxophone and joined Gingalas, a Swiss ska-dub band. Years later he swap again saxophone to electronic music, because in the theatre where he works as a lighting technician...
